Community Development Worker

Supporting Stronger, More Connected Communities

Regeneration isn’t just about buildings and investment — it’s about people. That’s why a dedicated Community Development Worker has been appointed to help build stronger community links across Heywood and ensure that local voices remain at the heart of change.

The role focuses on supporting grassroots organisations, voluntary groups and individual residents — helping them connect, collaborate, and contribute to the regeneration process. From setting up new activities to strengthening existing networks, the Community Development Worker acts as an enabler, advocate and connector.

A key priority is to increase community participation — especially among those who may be less engaged or face barriers to getting involved. This includes working with young people, older residents, ethnic minority communities, and those experiencing isolation or disadvantage.

By helping people find their voice and take an active role in shaping their place, this project supports more inclusive growth and long-term resilience. It ensures that regeneration is something done with the community, not to it — and that every part of Heywood has the opportunity to thrive.
