Latest Update

We are pleased to confirm that the Government has approved the Vision document for the Heywood Pride in Place confirming that Heywood will receive £20 million over the next ten years.   Over the next few months there will be opportunities for residents, local groups, businesses, and organisations to have a say on how the money should be spent.  We have some initial ideas based on earlier consultation and feedback that we’ll share but we’d also like to hear about any new ideas.

The £20 million is spread over the ten years, this year’s allocation for projects is £592,000 and a large proportion of that money will be made available to local groups and organisations though grant schemes which will be announced & advertised soon.

Last year Pride in Place part funded the new public space outside the Civic Hall as well as contributing towards the costs of staging events such as The Herds, Darnhill Festival 2025, 1940s Day 2025, the Rochdale Comedy Event at Hakuna Matata and the Heywood Christmas Lights Switch-on.

Thanks to the outgoing Chair – after leading the Town Board for over two years and helping secure the £20 million, Brian Davies J.P. has resigned as Chair.  The Board and partner organisations would like to place on record their thanks and gratitude for Brian’s leadership.  There will be a recruitment process to appoint a new chair in September which will be advertised locally.
